Prof. Roland Tomb is a physician and a
researcher based in Beirut.
He graduated from Paris (M.D.), Strasbourg
(Dermatology, Allergology, Pharmacology) and
Marseilles (Ph.D. in Philosophy and Ethics).
He is specialized in dermatology,
allergology and STD and is currently
chairman of the Department of Dermatology at
Université Saint-Joseph (USJ).
He is also in charge of the
Department of
Ethics and Bioethics at the same university,
and chairs the IRB and Ethics Committee of
Hôtel-Dieu de France.
He was elected at the Council of the
Lebanese Order of Physicians and appointed
Head of its Ethics Committee.
On July 5, 2011 he was elected Dean of the
Medical School (Doyen de la Faculté de
médecine) at
Université Saint-Joseph.
His main interests are philosophy, theology,history and linguistics.
Prof. Tomb is the author of hundreds of papers published in international journals,
books and chapter of books.
He has recently presented a Ph.D. thesis on the ethics of circumcision to be published
in 2013.
Roland Tomb is the father of four children: Marie, Clara, Bérénice and Olivier.
